Commander Mark Schauer
 

Commander Schauer joined the department in 1982. He has served in various positions in the Uniform Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Special Services Division, and the Training Division. He has also served as the Metrocom Director.

Schauer earned a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois in Biology and earned a Master in Public Administration from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, where he serves as an adjunct professor in Criminal Justice. He currently oversees Narcotics, Vice, Jet, the Graffiti Task Force, the Bike Unit, the Enduro Unit, and the Directed Patrol Program. In 1997, he was named "Peace Officer for the State of Texas" the Texas Attorney General's Office.


The Special Services Division consists of Narcotics and Vice Sections, whose missions are to investigate and eradicate narcotics and vice related crimes including, but not limited to, all levels of illegal drug distribution, prostitution, obscenity/ pornography violations, gambling, liquor law violations, S.O.B. (sexually oriented business) violations, underage drinking, and tobacco violations.


These crimes tear at the fabric of our community, undermine the welfare of our children, and adversely affect the quality of life in Corpus Christi.  For those reasons, the Special Services Division is committed toward the successful prosecution of violators and the eradication of drugs through partnerships within the civilian and law enforcement community.
